Anglican based wedding ceremonies

Set in the idyllic location of Wollombi and only 1.25 hours from Wahroonga, St John’s offers couples the opportunity to have their complete wedding ceremony conducted by an Anglican minister in the historic church.

Designed by the eminent 19th-century architect Edmund Thomas Blacket, St John’s Anglican Church is built of sandstone and wood in the Gothic tradition.

The church’s interior is adorned with stained glass windows on either side of the nave and in the east behind the cedar altar, which carries large brass candlesticks. There are antique brass lamps above the aisle, which throw a soft light throughout the nave and over the cedar pews. In 1998 the church was fortunate to be given a single manual pipe organ. This lovely organ, used regularly in Sunday worship and weddings, is more than 100 years old and is listed in the Historic Organs of NSW.

All weddings are Anglican-based. The church is not available for civil weddings conducted by celebrants. The set fee includes provision for the minister who will celebrate the wedding, donation for the upkeep of the church, flowers and an organist available should she be required.
